Privacy Policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
This policy explains what DesignBookmark collects, what we do with it, and who else is involved. DesignBookmark ("we", "us") is the directory published at designbookmark.com, and is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact us at hello@designbookmark.com.
What we collect
If you just browse: analytics data about the pages you visit, described below. No account is needed and we do not ask for your name.
If you create an account: your email address and basic profile information from Google sign-in, plus the tools you bookmark.
If you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address, the date you confirmed, and which page you subscribed from.
If you submit a tool:the tool's name, URL, category and description, plus your email address. Submitting is free, so there is no payment and no payment record.
Google sign-in and your Google data
Signing in is optional and only needed to save bookmarks. When you choose Sign in with Google, we ask Google for the standard openid, email and profile permissions and nothing else. From them we receive your email address, your name and your profile picture.
- How we use it: to create your account, keep you signed in, show your name and picture in the account menu, and attach your bookmarks to you so they sync across devices.
- The newsletter, only if you ask: signing in never subscribes you. If you click Subscribe while signed in, we add your account email to the weekly drop, and you can unsubscribe from any issue.
- Where it is stored: in our Supabase database, together with the bookmarks you save.
- What we never do: we do not read your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive or any other Google data; we do not sell it, share it with advertisers, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
- Deleting it:email hello@designbookmark.com and we delete your account, your Google profile details and your bookmarks within 30 days. You can also revoke DesignBookmark's access at any time from your Google Account under Security, Third-party apps.
DesignBookmark's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What becomes public, and what does not
When a listing is published, the name, URL, category and descriptionbecome publicly visible on the site and to search engines. We also capture and publish a screenshot of the submitted page and a copy of the site's icon.
Your email address is never published. Neither are your bookmarks, your account details, or a submission we did not publish. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase. Our database and file storage: accounts, bookmarks, submissions, newsletter subscribers, screenshots, icons.
- Google. Sign-in, if you choose to create an account, and Google Analytics 4.
- Resend. Sending email: newsletter issues, listing notifications and confirmation links.
- Web3Forms. A notification to our inbox when a tool is submitted.
- Hotjar. Session replay and heatmaps, so we can see how pages are actually used.
- Cloudflare. Hosting, DNS and caching for the site.
Analytics and tracking, plainly
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools people find useful. It records page views, searches made on the site, which cards and outbound links are clicked, and coarse location and device information. We never send it your email address, your bookmarks, or the free text of anything you submit.
We use Hotjar for session replay and heatmaps. This records how a page is scrolled, moved through and clicked. It is used to find layout problems, not to identify individuals, and Hotjar suppresses text typed into form fields by default.
Both set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser. You can block both with any content blocker, or with your browser's own controls, and the site works normally if you do. We do not run advertising trackers.
Screenshots of listed sites
For every tool in the directory we capture an image of its public homepage and a copy of its icon, and serve them from our own storage rather than hot-linking. This is standard directory practice and applies to every entry alike. If you own a listed site and want its screenshot removed, email us.
How long we keep things
- Published listings: for as long as the listing is in the directory.
- Submissions we did not publish: kept as a record rather than deleted, so we can tell you why if you ask.
- Records of past paid listings: while the listing fee existed, payments were handled by Polar Software, Inc. as merchant of record. We keep those payment references for as long as we need them for accounting and tax, which is usually several years, and Polar keeps its own records independently. No new payments are taken through the site.
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any issue.
- Accounts and bookmarks: until you ask us to delete the account.
- Analytics:according to Google's and Hotjar's own retention settings.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@designbookmark.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can also ask us to take a published listing down; see the Terms.
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in any issue. You can block analytics as described above.
Links out
DesignBookmark links to third-party tools and websites, and some links may earn us a commission at no cost to you. Once you leave, the privacy policy of the destination site applies, not ours.
Changes
We will date any changes to this policy on this page.
